ARC: EMBRACE BY S. LAYNE

I received this ARC of Embrace by S. Layne from Book Enthusiast Promotions through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Embrace by S. Layne

Liam Parker crash landed into Laurie’s life when everything else was crumbling all around her. Her marriage and career were in pieces and her mind was left spinning.

But one touch from Liam, and Laurie could forget everything else around her.

She thought she had it all figured out.

As Laurie lost herself in Liam’s warm caresses and his commanding blue eyes, her husband refused to go quietly into the night. While Laurie fought to move on, it was James who was working his way back into her life, fighting for the marriage they had once held dear.

Forced to make choices she never imagined having to make, Laurie finally found herself on firm footing, knowing which way she was going to turn.

But then life threw her another curveball.

And when she once again began picking up the pieces, learning how to survive and rebuild after everything exploded, there was only one man still there, one man who remained by her side, showing her that sometimes life isn’t about learning how to survive…

It’s about learning how to thrive.

My Review

Embrace is the second novel in The Affair series. It is meant for older readers due to its content. It starts off where the first novel left off. I imagined the plot to be a lot different than it was. It threw me for a loop. What the first novel lacked in twists this one made up for it with the direction of the events unfolding. Although it did have me guessing I wasn't quite sure if I was happy with it. I really wanted to read more about Liam and get inside his head but it just didn't happen and I’m ok with that.

S. Layne did a great job with Laurie’s character and bringing out how conflicted she was with her life choices. She also did an amazing job of creating that deep connection between Laurie and her husband, James. The intimate scenes were erotic and heartfelt between these two characters. The authors writing made a marriage come to life by bringing in their problems and building up to the resolution in the novel.

I give Embrace 3 out of 5 stars.
